| I'm not sure about this but it seems like a good debate topic. Have at it my ducklings. | |

| Yes, it is dying. Soon all those PC gamers will bow before the real master race, the race of console gamers! Just kidding, I really don't care. | |

| I still wonder why people pay hundreds just to play a shinier version of the games that most people play on consoles.
And lol at the fact that the spec of their PC decides what games they can and cant play. I live safe in the knowledge that every single game i buy for a console WILL work with said console without having to upgrade.

| Steam proves otherwise. In fact. PC Gaming is MUCH BETTER than console gaming. | |

| The point of the thread isn't to determine if it is opinions, it is too state YOUR opinion. - Reaper wrote:

It's not just it's "shinier" in some games (like BF3) there are huge advantages to buying it on PC. Also with Steam you get amazing deals, and amazing sales on top of those deals. And plus you just have an overall better PC then the run in the mill computer.

| Here is a news story from last October that states that Steam has over 30 million active accounts. http://store.steampowered.com/news/4502/ And I'm sure it has grown even more by then.
Here are some of my opinions as to why PC gaming > Console gaming
1. Mouse and Keyboard 2. Higher quality graphics - Texture detail, better lighting, higher FPS, AA, higher resolution, etc. 3. Mods 4. Upgradable Hardware 5. Higher initial barrier for price, but the games are generally MUCH cheaper. 6. Freedom - You are not tied to one service or company. 7. Free Multiplayer (this is only a pro against the Xbox, obviously) 8. Unofficial patches - The modding community fixes games faster then the devs do, hell Fallout: New Vegas is still a mess on consoles, almost all the issues were fixed within a week on the PC. 9. If something breaks you only have to replace one part, not the whole damn console. 10. Multifunction – You aren't just buying a game machine, you can do whatever the hell you want on your PC. Game, email, web, financial apps, office, etc.

Don't forget that for the people that prefer controls you can also use with 3rd party tech a 360 controller, ps3 controller and even a wiimote. I think there is a 3rd party mouse and keyboard for the 360 but thats only limited to a view first person shooters. |

All of those are great points, but I never even thought of 9. That is very true. It's much cheaper to replace just, lets say, your disk bay then to replace an entire console.

No actually, it's not. I named reasons as to WHY I don't think it's dying/going to die.

| Well...okay. I think PC gaming will eventually "go away" not because of the price but because of what most people seem to think of the price. They see it as too expensive and a lot of websites try to educate people on how to get into PC gaming only makes me think that it's a sinking ship that the PC gamers are trying to save.
http://www.gamesradar.com/f/how-to-get-into-pc-gaming/a-2011071593153437020
Also the fact that there is just more money in console games will make more and more publishers move to the consoles exclusively.

PC gaming will not go away. And there isn't more money in console gaming, only games like CoD and shit get that much money. Steam gives something like 70% back to devs I think. Bio didn't you tell me that?
