“Traditional Final Fantasy” Coming to Smartphones

The game’s reveal comes alongside the 27th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy in Japan, so in celebration Famitsu managed to get Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi to speak with Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase in an interview focused on the entire series, and of course, the new game.

Kitase confirmed that he’s at the head of development on Mevius Final Fantasy, while other staffers from previous (numbered) games in the Final Fantasy series.

Mevius Final Fantasy is coming to both iOS and Android in Japan sometime next spring.

I'd rather get a game like this for the Vita, but knowing Square Enix they'll localize it for the PS5 and the Xbox F1080 as a full-priced game. Still, it's nice that they're making a phone game that doesn't require you to buy each character separately (hopefully, at least).
