What does the MGS 4 ending have to do with this? This game takes place after MGS 4, after the fall of the sons of the patriots system. Kojima has already said the game will explain how Raiden in the MGS 4 ending will fit in the MGS Rising Raiden.

Nothing they have said indicates this game in non-canon. Literally nothing. But what they have said is that they will explain how Raiden is back to a ninja from MGS4 ending, a few other plot points and that it takes place after MGS 4(which is part of the timeline). If you go on MGS wikia, it states Rising as canon. Of course, nothing in Rising will affect MGS games that take place earlier than MG4.

Either way it looks fucking badass regardless if it's called metal gear or not.
