Major Nelson just revealed a list of 2011's most popular games played while connected to Xbox Live.

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
4. Halo: Reach
5. Battlefield 3
6. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
7. Gears of War 3
8. FIFA 12
9. FIFA Soccer 11
10. Madden NFL 12
11. GTA IV
12. NBA 2K11
13. Battlefield: Bad Company 2
14. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
15. Battlefield 3 Beta
16. Halo 3
17. Gears of War 2
18. Forza Motorsport 4
19. Red Dead Redemption
20. Call of Duty: World at War

The retail list is pretty typical stuff. Call of duty dominates the top 3, halo reach manages to be the most played non call of duty game ending in number 4 followed by Battlefield 3.

Other newer games include Skyrim, Gears of War 3, Forza 4 and sport games like madden and fifa.

Alot of older games have still a cult following in multiplayer including CoD4, Halo 3, RDR and GTA IV


Now to the arcade games.

This list has quite more variety in genres and releases. Popular older games like pinball, castle crashers and trials HD are still very high aswell as newer games like fruit ninja, toy soldiers, bastion and from dust.

I was thinking the exact same thing

and How is COD4 down so low? that was the best COD ever!

Maybe because Black Ops was out longer than MW3 last year.
