I already had one and I bought it when it was $500.

Yes that's the part that Sony wasn't telling you when they said sales increased by 400%. When the US price was $299, the Australian price was still $499 but we had a $150 price drop down to $350 (still more expensive by the way) which accounted for the massive spike in sales.
