| Sleepaways camp. Well.... uh... so why did all of this happen ? - Spoiler:
She is a boy ! Well that certainly explains why she kills everyone gruesomely. Boys sure are cruel creatures.
End scene reminded me of a nice boat (obscure reference). Can't say that I liked the movie sry, I am not sure if you guys were trolling me. Like it was a bit wierd, and cruel at times, but there wasn't really any suspense or horror. Just a murderer on a spree among unlikeable people. Someone fill me in ?

| @Gutzahn Yeah, the movie doesn't really explain why the murderer kills. | |

I'm trying to think of a way to explain this film but I can't, well, one word automatically springs to mind that is "lovely". Oh and Ralph Fiennes is fucking fantastic.

It's my favorite film of 2014, and in my top 25 of all-time. My only big issue with it, and this isn't really with the film itself, more with Wes Anderson as a filmmaker, is that he hasn't really evolved much, nor does he have much range. - Orion wrote:

where's that list that you and jack made of must watch movis? 2. I don't even remember making that. 1. Sure, compared to Moonrise Kingdom, he hasn't evolved in the direction-style. But if you compare GBH to any other Wes Anderson-film, then the experiementation, Music, Boldness, Risk and quirky-ness is all notched up a bit. If not, a bit more in other areas, too. :) 2. I don't remember that list, either

Man, I really loved this film, very Eternal Sunshine, well, that was the vibe I got. Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson, the latter as a disembodied entity I might add, are fantastic. Really touching, really lovely, there, I'm using that word lovely again. I used it to express my feelings for The Grand Budapest Hotel but this, this film is another kind of lovely.

| Just watched Akira (The 2008 English Dubbed version) 7/10 It's an alright movie, with cool action scenes, good visual quality and animation for its time, and an interesting premise. However, the plot makes no fucking sense unless you've read the 6 volume manga, which came out over 30 years ago. The ending also suffers from being brief and making no fucking sense, as I had to go look it up for an explanation to what "I am Tetsuo" really meant. Oh, and watch this in the 2nd dubbed version if you want to understand it better. Anyways, only really watch this to say that you have watched Akira before. It may be a landmark anime film for popularity in the western world, but it can easily be skipped by film buffs everywhere.
Very interested in watching Grave of the Fireflies (ww2 emotions-heavy movie) and Pefect Blue. I heard that Black Swan was inspired/based off of Perfect Blue, which may not be a good thing since I fucking hated that softcore-porn/lesbian film.

Critically it was very well-received (it has 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and it was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and it won Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars). In my top 100 list, I only have two films from this century, and Lost in Translation is one of them. It's amazing.

| Lost in Translation - Sofia Coppola
LiT is a film you have to watch on your own. You just zone out, and get sucked into it, whether that be the relationship between the two central characters, or the awesome, bizarro take on Tokyo. Bill Murray was fantastic at playing himself, every scene he's in is just outstanding. Overall, maybe it was a little too subtle for me, but still, really enjoyed it. EDITED SCORE: (Hindsight is a wonderful thing.) 9.5/10

| The Hunger Games 6.5/10The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 9/10 Initially, I was very skeptical for this film despite it's high appraisal and ratings. It seemed like filler, just to get to the part where the new Hunger Games starts in Mockingjay Pt1. But, holy shit this movie was great. Definitely a huge step up from the first film. | |
