Does resolution matter?

It may not matter to some people, but how long can we continue to say that it doesn't matter? We've been having 720P on consoles for like, what, 10 years now? At some point, it has to matter.

Depends on the screen, really. Low res PSone games look great on the Vita screen, but playing them on a large 4k would be awful.

Time isn't really a factor when it comes to resolution. It's screen size that does.

Also graphics have improved dramatically over the last 10 years. Resolution is not a factor in that.

@The_Biotic_God How so? 4K is starting to become the standard, so how can we ever move forward in terms of resolution if we continue to use 720p?

Because the overwhelming majority of people don't have 4k tv's and the gaming industry doesn't have to follow suit until it does become more popular.

@DaTeckno That's exactly my point. Eventually we're going to have to move forward. So how long will this whole "resolution doesn't matter" going to continue? There has to be an end to it at some point.

1080p is becoming the standard, 4k isn't even close.

@Angelus I was talking more about television. You know, you have to increase the resolution in contents if companies are pushing for 4K.
