- Latino Review's Dave Gonzalez has posted his weekly column, and has revealed a LOT of new details about Marvel Studios' upcoming slate of movies. Though Dave is usually on the money, until any of this is official we'll have to take it as a rumor for now -- but if even half the stuff below turns out to be true, the MCU is is for one Hades of a shake up. First off, we better address that headline: According to Dave, the "deal went through" and Spider-Man will indeed be a part of Avengers: Infinity War Part 1. Rumors of Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire (seriously?) reprising the role have been put to bed too -- this will be a brand new actor. As if that wasn't a big enough announcement on its own, he also has the details on the films that lead up to that highly anticipated cinematic event. Once more, do not read on unless you are ready for some massive SPOILERS?
- Possible MAJOR Spoilers:
Okay, so it seems Steve Rogers is gonna kick the bucket at the end of Captain America: Civil War. Word is it's the revelation that Bucky was responsible for Howard Stark's death that triggers the bad blood between Rogers and Tony, and the end result is Crossbones taking out the Star Spangled Avenger. Info on what happens to Iron Man is vague, but it sounds as if he'll wind up in space somehow. In Thor: Ragnarok, lots of Asgardians will die and be resurrected, and the God of Thunder will be confined to a "galactic prison". This takes 3 of the main Avengers out of the picture for Infinity War Part 1, which will focus on a completely new team, along with Spidey of course! The roster is not yet finalized apparently, but some potentials include: Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp, Captain Marvel, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jewel/Power Woman, any Guardian of the Galaxy, and any Inhuman.
All classic Avengers will be absent from this lineup because the plan is to bring them back for Infinity War Part 2... yes, even the deceased Stevie Rogers. There's some more speculation as to how the likes of Black Panther and Doctor Strange could fit in, so be sure to take a look.
Lots to take in here, but let us know what you think in the usual place. And may I just add: HOLY SH*T! http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/markcassidycbm/news/?a=113625 Latino-Review has been pretty accurate with Marvel scoops, unlike DC scoops, but if true... HOLY FUCKING SHIT! - Mecha's reaction:

| This might explain why there hasn't been any news at all about Sony's Spider-Man films. | |

| I'd actually care for The Avengers movies if they had Spidey in them. | |

| @RamboOnRedBull You're fooling no one. You care about them with or without Spidey. | |

| Spider-Man In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR? Nope! Sony Reps Dismiss Rumors - Quote :
- The possibility of Spider-Man joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe was first reported on last year after the tepic critical and commerical response to The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The "Sony Hack" would reveal that it was something actively being discussed between Marvel Studios and Sony, with talks seemingly breaking down shortly after, though other reports would later claim otherwise.
Earlier today, we heard that the deal may be done, with Spidey set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War. Comic Book Resources have since reached out to Sony, and a studio representitive told them that the report is an "old rumor" with "no validity whatsoever." Marvel and Disney have not yet responded. Ultimately, this may mean nothing, but it is odd that they would respond this way.
Based on past experience, there's really no way of knowing how to take this as denials have sometimes been proved wrong, and were other times spot on. It's a guessing game! Regardless, we're going to find out one way or the other soon enough, as Sinister Six is still supposed to be coming out in 2016. So, start counting down the days until that pointless movie is released and the sure to be terrible third instalment of The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Yay? http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=113663 Boooooo! Seems logical business wise though. Why share profits with Marvel if they know someone can get it right. | |
