When it comes to fighting games, Mortal Kombat often trumps the others when it comes to content due to the freedom to switch fighting styles at will, not to mention the countless unlockables.
However the developers took it a step further by including an open world "konquest" mode, and on a handheld no less.


Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

Metal Gear Solid was on a whole different level to the rest in the series. Not only did the game offer many side missions (including an Assassin's Creed a Monster Hunter one) but it is also the first game that has you build your own metal gear, have you recruit troops, assign them to different aspects of your motherbase, send them to battle and overall maintain your motherbase. Furthermore it is the first game to feature co-operative multiplayer. The game is massive.
