People are too quick to bash a systems graphics

All over the place online people bash the graphics of certain video game systems, be it the ds, psp, 3ds, vita, xbox 360 or wii.
People don't seem to realize that it takes a while before the graphics on a system properly peak.

Let's take a look at a launch ps2 title.



To be honest it looks worse than a late psx title

Then later on it got games looking like this



and this




PSP started with games looking like this



and later on got games looking like this



The wii too had some stinkers



But of course ...
later things changed



So as easy as it is to laugh at the 3DS graphics when its just been launched, saying it's barely as good as the psp..



All it took was one year...

I hate when people say good graphics = photo realistic. This is not true, good graphics can be anywhere inbetween god of war, gears of war - little big planet, viva pinata. It all depends on how well and eye pleasing a game is, it sometimes takes a while to get amazing graphics on a system but this gen has blown me away. I cant wait for what next gen brings (hint, hint MS - SONY)

Agreed Cania the best kind of looking games IMO are the ones who kind of mix the beauty of art style and the details of photo realism.

Gonna assume that those 3DS screens are cutscenes, in which case, you are invalid.

The second one sure as hell isn't. If the first one is, it's based upon the in-game engine.

Well most of your pics of when the console first came out were of bad games in the first place. But in general yes I agree with you.

Pursuit Force is fucking good as well

The 3DS graphics are perfectly acceptable, I see no major complaints.

Eh. To me, a game can still have lousy graphics and a good art style. If the visuals aren't clean and crisp and look jagged, they have bad graphics, despite a good art style.

IMO, old nostalgic graphics>modern day realism
