A new trailer for Square's highly anticipated entry into the XIII universe has been released and man, does it look amazing.

The game is open-world. Why is this important? We haven't really had an open world Final Fantasy title since IX, and all the fans have been begging for it. Also, Versus will be the first Final Fantasy game to host real-time combat. It appears to be much like Kingdom Heart's battle system. The game also features TPS elements (at times) and the trailer reveals Noctis to be controlling a mech and what appears to be a tank. That brings me to another point: The game is being developed by the Kingdom Hearts & Crisis Core team and is being headed by Tetsuya Nomura.

The game looks to be much grittier and darker than previous entries in the franchise. It will also be the first Final Fantasy game to feature blood. At this point, the game seems to be leaning towards an 'M' rating. Below are some screenshots of the game:
