You do realize Halo does not sell that good outside of USA, right? The highest a Halo game has sold in Europe is 3 Million, which is nothing compared to USA. Which is sad, 'cuz USA is a COUNTRY while Europe is a CONTINENT.

You're not talking about killer apps then, you're talking about iconic characters, which you're right, Sony does not have. They don't have one specific character associated with their brand, but Gran Turismo most definitely is a killer app for them.

Sony has more iconic characters than MS. Kratos and Ratchet come to mind pretty fast. And hell people tend to associate Snake with the PS brand more than anything....With MS only Master Chief and maybe Marcus Fenix come to mind. While Sony has Kratos, Ratchet, Sly, Jak, Nathan Drake, etc.

Right, and because Sony has so many characters, they don't have one that represents the console whereas Microsoft really only has Master Chief.

That's an interesting thought but how would it work exactly? Again. Those are minor mascots. Kratos, rachet, sly and jak are nowere near iconic status like master chief and mario.

I agree. Sony may have a ton of mascots, but it doesn't have a definitive one. they had crash back in the PS1 days, but he left when Universal left.

The tech inside Kinect is actually a lot smaller then you think. Also Kinect is already forcing you to make more space in your living room and stuff. It's no different. Just get a TV Stand that works better for motion gaming is all.

You don't seem to get the point. The aproach to a mature audience was the reason sony was so popular i agree with that. But now sony seems to have massive competition when it comes to the mature audience which proves that sony cannot rely anymore on the playstation brand itself. I mean look at the difference between the ps1 and ps3. The ps1 had completly no competition at all even tho the N64 was a great console. Because they tried out a whole new thing so they didn't need a mascot in the first place.

With the ps3 however the 360 seem to have taken the same approach and actually got advantage due to gears of war and halo 3 mainly because of their easy recognizable cultures within the games. So the difference is that the ps1 had no competition. But after the competition between the 360 and ps3 the 360 still stood strong even if playstation is a much more known brand last gen.

And now with the next generation coming up. Microsoft got a new halo trilogy. And nintendo got mario. Which gives them an advantage since they both have a bigger fanbase due to their iconic characters. Sony only has its playstation brand to back themself up.

I was not saying Halo was unknown, just that it's a unpopular franchise as a whole outside of USA. You're starting to side-step, it was not about what sold more, but about the fact that you STATED that Sony does not have any Iconic franchise as big as Halo. Yes people don't care about Halo anymore. That's why Reach consistently gets 1 million players daily and Halo 3 consistently gets 200,000 players daily (4 years after release and with a new major title ahead of it). If you don't believe me check bungie.net Sure it may not be as big as Call of Duty numbers but to say that people don't care about Halo is pure ignorance. It has one of the most active and dedicated communitys out there, far more than any PS3 online community.
