Well the 3DS has been on the market for a year now.
I decided I would take a look at how well-rounded the game library is in terms of 3D titles, now that its had a fair bit of time to garner titles of all styles rather than just a lot of side scrollers and 2d style titles like the original DS had. So let's take a look.

Overall there is a great roster of games for the 3DS of all kind of styles. A few areas such as the horror/thriller and rpg sections are lacking a bit so far but soon enough there will be games such as Beyond The Labyrinth, Bravely Default, Heroes of Ruin, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter and more to add to the system's so far very good library.

Yeah, I mean there might be one or two I've overlooked, perhaps in Japan. But yeah, as far as the ones that stick out there are just the ones I mentioned. Unless you can consider Ocarina of Time to be an rpg. It's debatable.

But still, here are some of the upcoming RPG's:

Beyond The Labyrinth
Bravely Default
Unknown Final Fantasy title
Unchained Blades
Fantasy Life
Etrian Odyssey
Shin Megami Tensei unknown title
Maple Story 3DS
Heroes of Ruin
Dragon Quest
Monster Hunter 3G
Monster Hunter 4.

And I don't know if you can include Kingdom Hearts or not but yeah that too.

I think it will do well in terms of RPG's, and it has the potential to be great with strategy games (the dual screen and touch screen can be really good for management and shit like that).
But there doesn't seem to be many in the pipeline at all. There are simulators, but few strategy games for some reason.

Yeah, I mean it's not really my kind of game but it does look very good, at least according to the reviews and game footage. I might pick it up later on in the handhelds life.

Oh god seriously? I hate using the touch screen for anything more than quick inventory management. Though it depends if the game utilizes it well or not.

aw Razz It is actually fucking awesome, and the online service is leaps and bounds above what the PSP and previous DS had to offer.
I played some mariokart and resident evil online last night for the first time and it was fucking quick, stable and fun.
I'd highly recommend one, they're cheap and awesome. Also glasses-less 3D? On a handheld? It's revolutionary.
