- Snowpiercer was one of the best sci-fi movies of 2014. Bong Joon Ho's adaptation of the 1982 graphic novel 'Le Transperceneige' was a gripping, thought-provoking adventure, and rivalled Edge Of Tomorrow for most underrated film of the year. The movie wasn't seen by many, after it received a very limited release (imposed by the studio after Bong refused to cut it down). Thankfully, it's become a bit of a cult hit, while the property has been given a second chance.
According to THR, the film will be adapted as a TV series, with Sarah Connor Chronicles' & Crossbones scribe Josh Friedman attached to write, with Bong set to executive produce. "I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity," Friedman said. "I’m a huge fan of director Bong’s films, especially Snowpiercer. It’s great the way the best sci-fi is great — thoughtful, political, funny, scary and sly. And it’s on a train. A big f—ing train. What more could you want?" The series is being made by ITV's Tomorrow Studios (who were behind the NBC straight-to-series drama Aquarius). It'll likely be shopped out to find a network suitor at some point in the near future.
