I don't get why publishers even agree into doing timed-exclusives? Especially Rise of the Tomb Raider. They would have made a lot more money if they released it on both Xbox One and PS4 at the same time. By the time the game comes out on PS4, a lot of gamers will lose interest. Sure Mircosoft payed Square Enix a lot of money, but they're damaging the fanbase by doing that. I don't think an already establish third-party franchise should every be exclusive to any console. Especially a console that's less popular than the other. Square Enix just shot themselves in the foot.

^ Actually you don't know how much Microsoft paid them to get it as a timed (I assume) exclusive. I'm sure it must be enough to cover the potential costs that they would have made were it launched the same time on PS4. Plus it might actually be a good investment for them because it means they will probably get more marketing from Microsoft (maybe bundles) and it means that when it does come to PS4 there could be DLC and stuff bundled in and so it looks even more attractive when it comes out on Playstation.
