What is your favourite/least favourite game genre?

I can't remember the last time we had a thread like this. But everyone's tastes might have changed quite a bit since then.

So name your favourite video game genre and give examples of games in that genre you love.


I gotta say I still love adventure as much as I ever did (Broken Sword, Twinsen's Odyssey and Grim Fandango are still the best)




RPG might be my favourite genre, particularly WRPG but only when done right. (Elder Scrolls, Fable, Two Worlds 2, Mass Effect etc)




I love me a good bit of action from time to time, but I'm very particular about these games (Saints Row, Grand Theft Auto, Bully, Gun, Red Dead, Mount & Blade)





I think the genre that I've grown out of most is FPS. I might need to get back into battlefield really.

As for sports games I only like the rugby ones.


As for racing games I get too frustrated by them.

As for platformers I rarely have much patience.

As for strategy... only a few specific games

My favorites are WPRG and action-adventure. My least-favorites are sports games and strategy games.

I mainly play bullet-hell games and Xevious.

Fighting games:

I love me some 2D fighters. 3D ones... not as much but I still like them.

FPS games:

Well, most of the FPS games that I play are TF2 and Counter Strike. I play COD. That's it.

Strategy games:

I am not the kind that could play those type of games.

Sport games:

If there is one sport I like to play (Both realistically and as a game), it's basketball. Well, I also play volleyball, but there are no good games for volleyball that I'm aware of.
