This is how gaming journalism has taken the fall, with idiots writing idiotic articles like this one you are goning to read.

Quote :
Guns beat swords, and that is a matter of empirical fact
No it's not a fact, because if I cast a spell that creates a shield around me, your guns will be useless.

Quote :
You shouldn't have to choose between games like Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim. Bethesda's decision to release their latest open-worlder within days of Activision's new Call of Duty is, basically, a crime against humanity. Hard cheese.
How exactly is this a "Crime against Humanity" mr. Know-it-all?

Quote :
Obviously, it's fair to comment at this point that these are two entirely different games. In fact, I've no doubt that somebody who hasn't bothered to read this far will have already posted something to this effect in the comments below.
Trust me, I always read before I speak.

Quote :
Think of it this way: the campaign will take you about 8 hours, then it's straight into the multiplayer. Whilst millions will end up playing well into 2013, for many the window of enjoyment will be brief. After three weeks of fiery addiction, most of the people we'll most enjoy playing Modern Warfare 3 with will have moved on to something else, leaving us to jump into games filled with highly-skilled strangers.
Congratulations, you've just proved to everyone that you are yet another fraghead who can't stop playing shooters alongside campers and crybabies.

Quote :
Skyrim is certainly amazing, but it's simply not as time-sensitive. It's probably going to take a full calendar year out of your life at some point, so waiting a week or two isn't hugely likely to cause the end of the world. With the main plot being such a tiny fragment of Skyrim's megalodon-sandpit of things to see and do, it's slightly more spoiler-proof than your average RPG.
I stopped reading when you said that it "It's simply not as time-sensitive".

Quote :
Sure, you'll miss out on the immediacy of all that wide-eyed chatter about dragons down the pub, but we reckon we've played enough Oblivion to wing it
Fact: Dragons aren't as easy to kill as your average fraghead.

Before any of you post, I've skipped a few paragraphs, on these paragraphs he was saying that Skyrim is indeed gonna be a great game or how we must watch over our wallets, probably to shield himself from the flame.
Also there is a counterpart of that article, this time favoriting Skyrim.

Its for the hits bro. Any article against Skyrim gets huge responses from fanboys defending the shit out of it. It's basically one of the only games where it is almost unanimously agreed upon that its awesome by the internet. The websites know this and they take advantage of it. Look at when IGN ran that article which was 5 reasons why Dark Souls was better and the guy listed off 5 of the most stupidest reasons. It probably got hundreds of thousands of hits and got thousands of comments when it was pure trash journalism.

I know, but I had plenty of fun responding to him.

The journalist seems pretty immature, but there are plenty of decent journalists out there. Just ignore these occasional shitty ones. To be honest, I find that some of the most credible and fair reviews/ articles come from smaller sites and magazines. The ones that don't get pressurized into satisfy a certain demographic, but rather write from what they truly feel.
For example Acegamez.co.uk was one of my favourite sites for reviews but I went on it recently and it seems that they are down. I fear they are gone forever. Sad

I have a feeling he's trolling, but he's absolutely right about Skyrim being less time-sensitive. Single-player RPGs are always less time-sensitive than games with multiplayer.

Skyrim has hundreds of hours. While MW3 only has an 6-8 hour campaign, mixed in with a MP that will fill you with rage.

I don't think you know what time-sensitive means. If you buy MW3 a few months from now, the MP won't be as big as it was from the get-go. If you buy Skyrim a few months from now, your game experience will not change whatsoever.

So what's wrong with not having time sensitivity? Sounds like a good thing.

Because the article isn't about which one is better, it's about which one you should buy first.

I don't think you need to worry about time sensitivity for Call of Duty. The XBOX Live activity list from last week said that both Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops had more unique players than Battlefield 3.

i honestly cany see this shit it made my eyes bleed...
time sensetive...
i played oblivion over and over over 36 times on xbox even more so on my pc...
and when the game got dull it was still awesome but i made it more awesome making the villages big as bruma and rebuilding kvatch quests
creating the character is always a good time i love creating stuff and with more mods i could make my champion 200 times cooler and more handsome
plus you know... girls and nude mods^^
but when i played skyrim i had as fun playing thorugh the main quests as i had with obliion with 200 mods
i loved skyrim it was awesome...
imagine with mods... better water etc more weapons, armor, races, styles
if you dont see skyrim or oblivion ''fit'' then make it so...
plus its free not like CoDs map packs for 1200 mp that is as fun as watching porn with a limp dick

Think ive said it before somewhere but MW3 will be thrown onto the scrapheap next year and forgotten.

Skyrim will be remembered by gamers for decades.

The predecessor COD will always be forgotten when the next COD comes out.
