- Over the past few days, we've been hearing a lot about why Marvel Studios decided to move under the watch of Disney instead of Marvel Entertainment's CEO Isaac Perlmutter, and now Bleeding Cool may have another reason to add to the already pretty long list. While Kevin Feige and Ike had been at loggerheads for a while, it was apparently Avengers: Age of Ultron which was the straw that broke the camel's back. Apparently, Disney weren't happy with its $1.4 billion haul. That's a lot of money, but not enough, and not what many expected after the success of the first instalment and the Phase 2 releases which preceded it. The site adds that, "as a result, at Disney, it has been dubbed a failure. Which enabled Kevin Feige to use it leverage to push out Isaac Perlmutter."
Early on, many fans and analysts predicted that Avengers: Age of Ultron would top Avatar and Titanic as the highest grossing movie of all-time. While it was a million miles away from being a flop and still made Disney a lot of money, they clearly didn't get back as much as they expected. The site promises to reveal more about the divide between Feige and Ike, so stay tuned for updates... Source: Comic Book Movie

| Well, duh. The movie, not only didn't achieve market-growth, but it even underperformed compared to the previous one. I'm sure Disney isn't happy about it. | |

| @RamboOnRedBull Yeah, especially when Furious 7 and Jurassic World made more money this year. But I just think the novelty of The Avengers coming together has worn off. So now they're just your typical superhero team like X-Men. | |

You also need to accomodate for the fact that ticket prices have increased in the US between the two movies' releases, which means that even fewer people saw it in the theaters than what Disney had hoped. It's a pretty big slap in the face, if you think about all the wild predictions and expectations people had about its presumed success.

| @RamboOnRedBull That's why I bring up the whole novelty thing. I don't think the ticket price increase would have mattered if you gave them a reason to rush out to see this movie. But people already saw The Avengers together and it wasn't getting as good reviews as the first. But who knows? Maybe Avengers: Infinity War will make $2 billion, since Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and other superheroes will most likely be in it. Hopefully, Fantastic Four goes back to Disney by the time that happens. | |

I'm sure Infinity War: Part 2 will gross above 2 billion, but I'm not so sure it'll gross more than Part 1. It seems people only watch The Avengers movies to see them team-up and not much else.

| @RamboOnRedBull Of course that's the reason why people watch The Avengers. After all, The Avengers were once known as Marvel's B-team before the movies. Mi, how time changes. | |
