How do pc gamers buy games?

Gaben actually created his own little wikonomy with Steam.  Instead of actually paying for games, people can recycle what they've already spent by selling wallpapers, gifts, et cetera.  Most devs probably only release on Steam for quick money from people who are too busy playing the same game from 6 years ago to try theirs.

I wonder how many of them will refuse to buy The Witcher 3 at launch even though it's just £22, because they have "too many other games to play" or because "it'll be on sale in a few weeks/months/years"
