Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End 'Season One' 5/10

A virus kills almost all humans above the age of 13, and monsters called the the Four Horseman of John come and begin destroying human cities and any humans they can find. Vampires then swoop in and adopt the human children and in exchange for donating their blood they get protection by the vampires and are raised by them. The humans become livestock for the vampires and are treated as such.

Some adult humans managed to survive the virus, and form the Imperial Japanese Demon Army to kill the vampires and rebuild civilization. But vampires can't be killed by conventional weapons, so humans use demon possessed weapons to kill them. The main character, Yūichirō Hyakuya, is a livestock for the vampires. Several years pass and he manages to escape captivity and joins the Demon Army. And then goes to high school for some reason...ugh.

I liked the first two episodes, but then he became a highschool student in a post apocalyptic setting for some bullshit reason. The highschool episodes were pretty shitty, and they just should not have been made. The first 2 episodes and last 4 episodes were good, but the middle ones were boring and dragged the whole show down. No action and really slow. This came out in Spring, and there is already a second season planned for the fall, so it's possible they intend to make even more seasons and think those were necessary to have those to get some of the character development out of the way.

That said I do like the characters, particularly Guren and Hiragi, and their army uniforms are pretty snazzy. Honestly Sawano Hiroyuki is about 50% of the reason I want to watch the next season but I'll check it out and I have faith for it since the ending was pretty interesting.

TL;DR Interesting characters, child cruelty, little slow, some stupid dialogue, but Sawano Hiroyuki is working on the soundtrack for it so I'm hoping the next season will be good.

Charlotte - Episode 1 (First Impression)

This anime is being done by the same studio that did Angel Beats, and the plot just reeks of overtones that were present in Angel Beats, with its badly-forced melodrama and typical anime cliches and such. The MC being a stupider/less-witty version of Lelouch vi Britannia with his badly usage of "powers" certainly doesn't help the cause in making a good anime series. The story and premise of this show is about an MC cheating his way through school, doing so well he gets to go into a prestigious high-school, then being transferred to another high-school due to being discovered for cheating throughout his tests in classes by using his "superpowers". This is no ordinary school though, as all the students there have superpowers, themselves. I won't lie, the plot does sound interesting and intriguing overall. It's not terrible so far, as the first episode was just pretty decent. The animation is very nice and well-done, and the music ain't bad either. With that being said, I fucking despised Angel Beats, so I don't know how far I'll be able to get into this anime series. I guess I will just have to wait and see how it goes for all 13 episodes of the series.

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou
- Episode 1 (First Impression)

Yes, this is an ecchi fanservice series with a monster girl fetish, where they all have revealing parts of their bodies and try to get with humans. Yes, I found the plot to this show interesting, as I want to see how the relationships with the monsters and humans develop over time as they are being forced to accept each other, and even live with one another by law of the Japanese Government. The first episode had some censorship in it, as all ecchi fanservice shows do during launch. But, over time I bet the uncensored versions will finally leak on the internet when the Japanese BD's finally come out. However, this is FAR from a great, even good series, as any series that relies too much on ecchi and fanservice to be its selling and viewing point can never be very good. Monster Musume definitely suffers from those elements, in that regard. (Still not as bad as To Love-Ru, which is basically softcore pornography as this point.) That being said, I still enjoyed it. Also, I found it hilarious that this is one of the best animated series of the season so far. Of all things.... Rate the Last Anime You've seen. - Page 6 725796345

I feel like there's a certain, special place in hell for me wanting to watch the rest of this series and wanting to enjoy. BUT, FUCK IT! I'm going to do it anyways. Lamiai girls FTW.

Classroom Crisis - Episode 1 (First Impression)

Bunch of students in a high-school work to build a spaceship to go to space or some bullshit? It was a fucking snorefest, and I'm pretty sure I dozed off watching this episode. The art and animation are nothing worth noting. Not going to bother with the rest of this snoozefest of a show.

Rokka no Yuusha - Episode 1 (First Impression)

Seemed okay I guess. I can see this show getting very old fast with its plot and premise. Not bad, but not very good either. The setting was cool and interesting, though.

Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace - Episode 1 (First Impression)

I'm interested and intrigued. Could be a hidden gem of the season. Nice mystery/horror series with cool detective vibes thrown in it. Solid show.

Going to watch Prison School and God Eater first episodes sometime this week. They'll probably be the last shows I check out for Summer Anime 2015.

@Stigma I fucking hated Owari no Seraph. You are being nice with a 5/10 score. I personally would give it a 3/10. Good god, it was absolute shit. The characters were nothing but stupid, generic cliches and stereotypes. The dialogue was fucking annoying as hell, like I needed to hear that Yuichiro Hyakuya was an idiot 5 times an episode from each member of the Vampire Extermination Unit, we knew this shit already. The pacing for this series is also really bad, and I felt that episode 11 was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. The action is okay, but very underwhelming at times. The animation is both good and very jarring at times, which is surprising since this is the same studio that animated Attack on Titan. It also has a lot of yaoi-vibes and is reeking of fujoshi bait. I know there is a second half of this series coming out in Fall, but I doubt I will bother to check it out. At least, the OP and English Dub are pretty good. On an entertainment level, the show is just okay. But on a critical level, this show is fucking horrendous.

Jojo's Stardust Crusaders season 2 - 8/10

As much as i like Jotaro, as a protagonist he has always been meh compared to the other Jojo's. Especially if you compare him to the younger Joseph, who was full of personality. But Bizzare Adventure isn't about Jotaro alone, it's about Jotaro alongside Kakyoin, Polnareff, Joseph and Avdol, together they make one of the greatest cast i've ever seen in an action adventure anime. Aside from that it's freaking Jojo so it is definitely a great anime.

Here's my one issue, without spoiling it much the ending was one of the most underwhelming endings i have ever seen, especially with over 40 episodes of building up the hype. Alongside that during the latest episodes it started to feel rushed and a lot of moments felt anti climatic, which is what lowered the score down.

Danmachi - 7/10

If there is one way i could perfectly describe this anime it would be: Sword Art Online, but improved.

Pretty much everything about this anime is the exact same formula of SAO. Basically you have a main character (Bell) who's aim is to go through as much floors as possible, as he goes on with his adventures he builds up a harem of grills and this harem takes priority over the action itself, the anime focus is largely on exploration of the lore and the harem itself but once in a while there's an amazing action sequence against a large bipedal monster he shouldn't be able to beat on his own with an outstanding soundtrack in the background. Yeah that's pretty much SAO right? The main characters even have the same voice actors for fucks sake.

However what separates Danmachi from SAO and improves on the SAO formula is that you can actually see Bell develop and improve his skills over time. He begins as a complete noob with poor armor and gradually improves his skills, weapons and armory, you can actually see him develop as a character and as a fighter while Kirito had been this stagnant character with no character development and no improvement on his abilities because he was already OP. And that's why Danmachi gets a higher score.

Nisekoi Season 2 - 6/10

Nisekoi is Shafts take on the harem formula. Despite the fact that it is a generic slice of life harem anime it actually managed to catch a large audience because the quality in art, animation and characters are actually above average. And that's a good thing to remember, something is not bad just because it's a certain genre as long as the genre is done correctly. And Season 1 is a great example of this.

However season 2 was....boring. There was almost no character development, the new characters introduced just seem like a waste of time, and the ending was absolute complete garbage. But still the characters are still memorable and it had it's great moments such as Chitoge's mother but it's overall disappointing to me.

Kekkai Sensen ?????/10

Studio Bones being their typical selves and delivering yet another masterpiece into the anime industry. This show is just random bullshit happening, with little to no substance, too much style, and a messy incoherent plot that never takes time to explain it thoroughly. Though, the past few episodes it has gotten super serious in developing its plot and characters. Too bad the show is riddled with delays, as the 12 th and final episode has been delayed like 3 times already, because LOLBONES WE DO WHAT WE WANT!!!!!! The animation is wack as well.

Skelter Heaven 1/10

Made by the same people who did an ova called, Mars of Destruction, the worst anime ever made. And it's pretty much the same exact thing as that. Not much else to see here.

Plastic Memories 6/10

It's alright. I came in thinking I would get a cool slice-of-life, emotional sci-fi series with some action in it. I left getting a romance between a human and an android, instead. Not that I totally hated that, but I felt disappointed in the end due to how they set up the plot in the beginning. The romance was pretty nice, though.

Highschool of the Dead 7/10

Came in thinking I would get a Michael Bay-esque anime about highschool kids fighting zombies in ridiculous and over the top ways, with some fanservice thrown in. And it certainly didn't disappoint, and delivered on all fronts. There wasn't even any retarded dialogue that a Michael Bay movie has, so that's a plus. Sure, the show is crazy as fuck and the plot doesn't even make any sense at times. But, I watched it for the entertainment value only. I surely was satisfied by the end of it. Too bad there will never be a season 2. Sad

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (TV) Second Season 10/10

UNLIMITED BUDGET WORKS, BABY! UFOTABLE PROVES THAT THEY ARE THE GODS OF ANIMATION AND PRODUCTION VALUES! A PROPER ADAPTATION OF THE UBW ROUTE OF THE VN! THANK THE LORDS!!!!! They even threw in scenes not in the VN, to add in depth for certain aspects of the show. Amazing show. Can't wait till Ufotable to animate the Heaven's Feel route, it's going to be amazing! This show isn't as dark as Fate/Zero, but just as good.

Nisekoi (Season 2) 2/10

Why did this piece of shit harem with a cringeworthy romcom get a second season? Oh right, because anime fans today love to flock to popular shows and watch the shit out of them, even if they aren't any good. It was even worse than season 1, as it did nothing to progress the plot and felt like a compilation of side-stories for each episode. The art and animation are still nice, but that's the only good things I can say about this show.

Currently reading a manga called Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins). It's actually the best selling manga series of 2015 in Japan, so far. Pretty good, overall. I know there's an anime out for it right now, but I want to read the manga and get caught up on it first.

@Orion Death Parade is good stuff, and Durarara season 2 is still coming out. BTW, where do you download your stuff? I'm getting sick of streaming everything, and every time I try to download something it fucks up. Maybe it's because my laptop sucks, or I am stupid for getting from a bad place, or IDK?

I heard that Space Brothers is really boring, so IDK.

@Archduke http://www.nyaa.se/
Space Brothers is very slow paced but I still love watching it

@Toxicmaniac Yeah I preferred Joseph and Battle Tendency, especially because with Stardust it just seems to be about how awesome Star Platinum is whereas Joseph had all those mad tricks and strategies, I enjoyed the battles more. Love Stardust though and some really creative and fun ways they dealt with enemy stands, thought the final fight with Dio and Jotaro finding his stands special power was a bit of an asspull though.

First impressions.

Chaos Dragon

I don't give two shits if Ufotable is helping with this because this anime simply put looks like a mess. I had absolutely no idea what was going on, one second they poorly attempted to introduce the lore and the second he suddenly kills one of his friends, gains super awesome power and fights a pirate baron guy and nothing made sense. If you want to make an anime with rich lore don't try to fucking rush it, all of this could've easily been spanned into 5 episodes.

Gangsta

Now this is one of those anime that the anime of the season worthy if not anime of the year. It's unique, the art is absolutely incredible and the characters feel really dynamic. It truly put me inside this gangster underworld and just makes me want more of it.

Overlord

As much as i like the premise i don't see this getting anything above a 7. The concept looks very promising but from the first episode you can quickly see that this is more of a lighthearted adventure anime with romance comedy in it. So i have moderate expectations and just hope that i get a lighthearted enjoyable series out of it.

Prison School

Holy fuck, that first episode was insane! The melodrama is absolute crazy, the characters are so over-dramatic and enthusiastic, and the show is hilarious. J.C. Staff is killing it with the animation I mean holy shit. The student council consists of some of the most terrifying girls I've ever seen in an anime. The censors were a pain in the ass at times, but I expect to find an uncensored version online at a later date, so it's all good. Still not as bad as the censorship in Terraformars, though. Razz Fucking hilarious shit, loved it.

Just finished it, incredibly powerful and moving, almost cried I felt i understood and could relate with episode 9 more though, but that's just personal stuff. This was amazing though, one of the greatest anime's I've seen in a long time. Last time i cried in an anime was One Piece which seems silly but when you get caught up in the moment it gets to you, especially if it's something you can understand and relate to.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School)

Holy fuck this show is awful. The story is interesting, but doesn't explain itself or how the magic of the world works very well, which leads to plot-holes out-the-ass. There's virtually no real character development, the "incestual" moments between the main MC and his sister are cringe-worthy and unnecessary to be honest, and it even feels a bit racist at times. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen a more OP protagonist than the one in this show. He's unlikable as fuck, and makes the show much worse with him as main viewpoint that the show goes on. A rare misstep for Studio Madhouse, though I can't totally blame them because the source material is utter shite.

tl;dr Take all the negative points of SAO, add in more characters and an OP MC, a bullshit plot about Magic used in society which makes no fucking sense, and throw in the retarded asspulls so the OP can win every time.

3/10 It's shit.

Golden Time

A somewhat-mature slice of life about the realistic outlook of relationships for people at the college level. A very entertaining show for the most part. The first half is fantastic, while the second half falls flat at times. Some of the melodrama, while very well done for the most part, is kinda annoying at times and kinda feels unnecessary. Also, the ending feels very emotionally cliche and I would have preferred the non-happy ending. Pretty cool that most of the setting is based off of real places in Japan.

Also, fuck Ghost Banri. That cunt pissed me off every time I saw him on screen.

7/10 Solid show though. Not as good as some other romance anime's that I've seen, but a very good show nonetheless.

Psycho-Pass 10/10

Great anime written by Gen Urobuchi, a dystopian future where a persons mental state can be scanned, and those who's mental states go beyond the accepted perimeters are eliminated. The pacing was great, the characters are all pretty interesting, you could follow the story without much exposition, and Shogo Makishima is one badass villian. Also I have to give it to Funimation, the voice acting was suburb, probably the best I've ever heard.

Psycho-Pass 2 3/10
So they changed writers from Gen Urobuchi to some guy named Tow Ubukata who took a giant steaming shit on the series. Many new characters were introduced, who were all bland and boring as fuck (I don't even know their names). There were some moments where it showed promise but then goes back to sucking. Really disappointed with the second season but the first one is a must watch.

The first episode of Noragami Aragoto was swell was fuck. The new OP is fucking awesome, and the show looks even better than the first season. Plus, some Bishamon bath scenes. Razz

First episode of K: Return of Kings had probably the prettiest 5 minutes to any animated show I've ever seen. I thought I was watching a video-game with super realistic graphics at some point, it was nuts. Hopefully, they explain what the hell is going on.

Heavy Object 1st episode was 5 minutes exposition and the rest boring interactions with a plain MC, some unnecessary fanservice with a heroine, and the constant jerking off to the mentions of "The Object". Seriously, that's all they could come up with? A fucking ball with cannons coming out with it? Pretty meh so far.

Young Black Jack 1st episode was pretty cool. Never got into that series, but it seems decent so far.

The "Ass"terisk War and Chivalry of a Failed Knight are both Light Novel x Battle Harems trash that are pretty identical in its premise. Both will be terrible, but I will watch both for the lulz and fanservice.

The New Gundam series seems pretty cool so far. This is the first time I am watching a main Gundam show, so I wonder how long it will last? From what I've heard, most main Gundam shows are about 50 episodes long.

Concrete Revolution is a batshit crazy of everything. From magical girls, to mechas, to superheros, to transformers, to aliens with a decent plot to go with it. It even has a crazy and unique art-style that visually makes the show a blast to watch.

Comet Lucifer has heavy Eureka Seven X Gurren Lagann vibes, with mechas, an earth-crashing loli, and very nice animation to go with it.

The AOT Junior High spinoff seemed kinda lame and was trying too hard to be funny. IDK about this, I may drop it. I'm losing interest in watching season 2 at this point.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie (Kōkaku Kidōtai - Shin Gekijōban) [Kazuya Nomura/2015] = 7/10

This movie made the so-so to below average Ghost in the Shell: Arise series worth sitting through, by tying up everything together. We finally get some much-needed character background history and development on Motoko Kusanagi, on who she really is, and how she became to be in this film. It has a nice plot that is very interesting at times, while not too confusing unlike the rest of Arise. The action scenes are awesome and very well-done in the cinematography and art/animation department, less ugly CGI models used this time around, and less useless "standing-around-while-talking" technobabble this time around. Yes, it is confusing to follow at times, but still a very compelling thing to follow. The homage to the original Ghost in the Shell is awesome, and a good way to leave off Arise. The voice-acting is very well done, and while I watched the Japanese version with English subs, I didn't mind this at all. (In fact, I prefer muh animus in nipponese Razz) Overall, it's an enjoyable and nice addition to the franchise with a solid script and a decent story to follow it.

Prison School 9/10
It's about 5 boys who attend a formerly all girls academy with over 1,000 female students. However they get caught peeping and put into a prison built on the school grounds where they do hard labor and get physically abused by the sadistic members of the underground student council. They get into a lot of bizarre and perverted situations and it's funny as fuck. Easily the funniest anime I've ever seen. I would give it a perfect 10 but I'm knocking it down for censorship. Vote Hana for best waifu.

Fate/Zero 8/10 & Fate/Stay Night (2014) 7/10
The fate series is about the Holy Grail War, where some mages got together to summon the Holy Grail to their world to use it's omnipotent power to grant their wishes, but the Grail may only grant 1 wish, so the Grail marks 7 mages as masters and they all fight to the death and the survivor gets his or her wish granted. Each master gets to summon a heroic spirit as a servant. A great hero from history or legend. To name a few non spoilerish heroes for example: Gilgamesh, Alexander the Great, and Gilles de Rais.

Fate/Stay Night is the original work, with Fate/Zero being the prequel, however I started with Fate/Zero as I was unaware. Each spoils aspects of the other, so I don't think there is necessarily a wrong one to start with, but I prefer Fate/Zero over Fate/Stay Night. F/SN has the generic "I must protect my friends" shonen anime hero who's always going on about doing to good thing and he has huge power creep throughout the series. The protagonist of F/Z however is an anti hero. He wants to do what is right generally but he is a pragmatist and won't hesitate to kill whoever gets in the way of his goals. I think the characters of F/Z are more fleshed out as well, however this may be due to the series roots as a visual novel, as Fate originally had 3 storylines, the Fate line, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's feel. The 2006 F/SN covered the first storyline, but is generally regarded as a bad adaptation, the (2014) covers the second story line, and there will be a movie to cover the third story line. Meanwhile Fate/Zero started as a light novel with no divergent story lines. Either way I personally recommend starting with Fate/Zero and then watching F/SN (2014), the 2006 series can be ignored as it sucks. There is also Fate/Kaleid which is a non canon spinoff series of which I've only seen 2 episodes of but not necessary to watch.

I need to re-watch Prison School, this time without the censorship. That shit was too funny. I hope we get Season 2 sometime soon. That and Shimoneta.

I still need to play the original F/SN Visual Novel. Since the haters won't stfu about how Studio Ufotable supposedly "ruined" this adaptation of the Unlimited Blade Works route by not including everything that the route has to offer, I might as well check it out at some point. That being said, the haters of this adaptation are absolutely ridiculous in their methods, and over-exaggerate every little small detail. I mean, c'mon, it's a 26 episode series, with three double length episodes. I don't think the Studio would have the funds necessary to make a 30+ episode TV series with a level on consistent animation quality that UBW 2014/2015 had. What, do they want even more infodumping and slow-pacing in this show? I feels like a fucking slice-of-life show at times during the first half of the series.
