How can indie games not remain obscure?

There's a lot of indie games on the Xbox Live market yet barely anyone knows about them. I have friends that don't even know that there was an indie game section.

So if you had an indie game but you wanted people to notice how would you do it?

I guess you have to announce it online on youtube with sneak peaks of gameplay. And give them updates on the development. Also have an official site with a trailer, have screenshots and stuff, have a set release date, have a Q&A, have a professional looking front cover, etc :)
