Film.
This is how I would order them in terms of how their general quality is to my taste:
35mm [Film] 70mm [Film] Super 16 [Film] 16mm [Film] Red Epic One [Digital] Red Epic [Digital] 8mm [Film] Bolex [Film & Digital hybrid]
I'll try to update my list as I remember which other ones there are. But for now, this'll do.

@Rambo Isn't 70mm better quality that 35mm?

It's better with brightness, but 35mm is better at handling different contrasts in order to make them more even. It's the same problem P.T. Anderson had with The Master (Shot in 70mm), which looks better than 35mm in some scenes, but looks worse in others. 35mm is essentially more consistent throughout.

@Rambo Oh I see. Still, even if the contrast is turned up higher, sacrificing black levels, the overall resolution is considered better with 70mm. The only thing screwing with 70mm being overall superior to 35mm seems to be contrast levels.

It absolutely is the only thing, for sure.
Both look gorgeous, though. Everyone has to give them that. :)

Yeah. Hopefully film doesn't die off completely and eventually have a resurgence.

You can probably tell the difference between film and digital by watching these trailers. The first 300 was shot on film, while 300: Rise of an Empire was shot on digital.

Standard Definiton video cameras are not part of Digital filmmaking.

Digital filmmaking in the film industry was the rise of a new set of cameras. Namely Digital film cameras. They're called Digital cameras solely in the industry to avoid confusion.
Digital cameras and digital projection were rejected by people in the entire industry. But then George Lucas wanted to show movie theaters that they can save money by offering them the option of digital projection, which took off when Lucas' movie earned over a billion dollars (The Phantom Menace). When this happened, movie theaters knew they didn't need film projectors, as people will pay, anyway. It also saw the rise of digital cameras, as they were used in that project as well.
Once movie producers saw Lucas made one of the highest-grossing films ever with cheaper cameras, that's when they began to impose those cameras to new filmmakers. Which is what has made the digital film-era boom as high as it has become.
Standard definition video cameras had zero to do with the inflation of the digital-era. You can thank George Lucas for it.
