Xbox One backward compatibility update enables 360, XBLA Games

Frankly, if Rockstar re-released Red Dead Redemption on PC or an HD remake with all DLC I would buy that shit!

Dragons Dogma coming to PC though! Excitement, I might not even need to use BC on X1 if more games make it to PC. Currently playing through Fable 2 again on my Xbox One. Sony faggots gonna hate :)

What does this change exactly? We knew from the start that it wouldn't be complete BC for every 360 game. You've been trying to make BC out to be a bad thing.

Let me tell you, no one gets an new console to play old games but having BC is a nice feature for revisiting old games. All gamers including both PlayStation and Xbox fans love this idea which is why the original 60 GB PS3 is so treasured. HD remakes are nice but the "Sony style" remakes are usually just plain ports without much touchup aside from higher resolution and framerate. It's much more feasible to get publisher permission to allow BC than it is to remake every goddamn game...also much cheaper on customers because I don't want to shell out $40+ on last gen games with minor touchups.

FYI BC came out for Xbox One just a few days ago and there are 100+ titles on the list. That's more than all the remakes so far. If the demand is high enough MS will push publishers to get popular games on their system. If not oh well. It's still better than nothing.

Here's an idea, why not just keep your Xbox 360 if you want to play EVERY 360 game? You guys act as if backwards compatibility is the ONLY way to play 360 games.

Mecha I don't know why this is so hard to grasp.

1) Minimizing the number of game consoles in your room or entertainment area is definitely the ideal.
2) Many people trade in or sell their old consoles to save up for next-gen.
3) OS specific features like screenshots and Game DVR can be taken advantage of if you play a 360 game on X1.
4) Not everyone has owned a 360 and if you want to get an Xbox One but want to play certain 360 games (For example, the Gears of War series) then you will not need to invest in both consoles.

There is a reason why last-gen ports to new consoles sell so well.

All I'm saying is, if it was me, I would keep my Xbox 360 if I wanted to play it's games. I don't mind having multiple systems all in one room.

I am keeping my 360 in my room, but now I can keep it unplugged, save space on my desk, I don't have to worry about charging separate controllers, switching HDMI's, obviously don't have to switch between consoles to play certain games, plus I can finally take screenshots and record footage of these games as well as use the snap feature (multi-tasking) and all the other Xbox exclusive features, and I get to use the lovely Xbox One controller for these games obviously and basically I have all my games in one place. Hell if I wanted I could sell my 360 and get extra money. If all my 360 games were backwards compatible on Xbox One, then selling the 360 would be a no brainer, and that's basically equivalent to Microsoft giving you money for nothing because you are then not losing out on not owning a 360.

edit: also backwards compatibility on X1 is region free as well.

Well of course it's a no brainer to sell the Xbox 360 if Xbox One can already play almost every 360 title. I'm not saying backwards compatibility isn't a good thing. All I'm saying is that if the Xbox One can't play a lot of 360 games, I would still keep my Xbox 360. Also just because you and Alan lack of space, doesn't mean that goes for everyone else.

Do you not understand that the list of games will grow?....

Again, no one buys a new console to play old games. I don't think BC was ever advertised as a hallmark feature of the console. It's there for people that want to play popular 360 games but don't have a 360 anymore/don't want to keep it around.

The list is going to grow but they already have a good number of titles that are backwards compatible and more coming in the future. The big deal about BC on Xbox One is that Microsoft found a way to enable it despite the major architectural differences between the 360 and Xbox One. After reading some of your comments you seem insecure that Microsoft is actually doing something right for once. Maybe you need to take it easy? This is actually good because it will push Sony to either find a way to do emulation on PS4 or at least improve their shitty PS Now service.

I think most of the must play games of last gen got a remaster for this gen lol.

If people actually cared, they wouldn't have sold their Xbox 360s in the first place. Also why should I be worried about Xbox One playing 360 games? If the Xbox 360 really had games I wanted to play, I would have gotten one last gen.

I don't think YOU should be worried about anything pertaining to Xbox seeing as you never had a genuine interest in the brand. I don't think not having BC is a deal breaker, but (for the last time) IT IS NICE TO HAVE.

It's popular belief that Mecha doesn't even own a console. He been bragging about buying a PS4 a couple of times in the past but never fallowed through.

Backwards compatibility only really matters at the launch of a new consoles then people stop giving a shit about after 2-3 years once most new releases are only for the current gen systems. Surprising that we didn't even see any form backwards compatibility at launch of both PS4 and XBONE. Only console that had it at the time was the Wii U.
