Kessler is Cole from the future, he did it so that he could make himself in the past be able to fight the Beast

That's the price of defeating Sin, A summonor's gaurdian becomes the final aeon and once Sin is beaten the summoner dies and the gaurdian becomes Sin, Jecht was Braska's guardian.

One of the summoner's guardians

How did Marcus Fenix sunk Jacinto?
Destroyed a lambant brumak who exploded

While it would have been more fair to have an end date then pick the winner using a random choice generator...the rules were clearly stated by Leo and only Stigma took the time to go for it.
