Xbox One and PlayStation 4

This is a more in-depth rant about choosing between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, rather then my one sentence looks at the issue that you are all probably sick of hearing by now.

When it comes to the consoles itself, Sony definitely has the edge here, the console is cheaper and from what I heard it is more powerful, most importantly it also works offline and because my ISP happens to be Comcast (which is kind of shit) it helps. I might give the Xbox One an edge in features but that is mostly because MS tried to make it an all-rounder for home entertainment, more so then the PS4, at least that is what I understand of it.

The problem comes with the games, as much as I would have chosen the PS4 no contest if that was the only issue, it isn't. The reason I buy game consoles is to play games and Xbox One's library caught my interest much more then the PS4s did, it also does not help the PS4 that 2 of the games that would have appealed to me on the PS4 went multiplat (KH3 and FFXV). I also have more attachments to pre-existing Xbox franchises (like Halo and Forza) and that my other gaming friends are also more likely to get an Xbox One, adding another factor to that decision.

It essentially boils down to buying a PS4 and being moderately satisfied by the way things are looking, or getting an Xbox One and having to deal with the appalling policies set by MS while at the same time having more fun and with friends at that. Both sides are double-edged swords for me.

This could change at any time, I am still watching the companies because I am certain that after the bad press and pre-order massacre, MS will probably do something to try and appeal to people and I would be genuinely surprised if they don't.

i wouldn't count on MS coming to their senses for at least 2 years.

MS is like Sony back when they first released the ps3. they thought that they were top dawg and that everyone will just buy their console anyway.

I just don't like the arrogance of Microsoft. If Microsoft had a face, I'd punch the shit out of it. What they're doing now is a complete turnaround from what they've been doing with Kinect, which is "Hey, the Xbox 360 can be enjoyed whether you're a gamer or a soccer mom," whereas now, if you don't have Internet or money to support the new game market, you're apparently not good enough for their product. Microsoft is overestimating their brand loyalty, which is exactly what Sony did with the PS3 and we know how that turned out for them.

Probably what I hate most about Xbox One is that you basically don't own the games you buy. Think about it, you're paying full price for a game, yet Microsoft are still telling you what and what not to do with it. You can't even install your own game into your own harddrive. You have to install it in this Cloud service, which we don't even know if it will last forever.

And the problem with relying on Cloud for everything is that, say, ten years from now, when Microsoft decides that keeping Xbox One's Cloud servers online just isn't economically feasible, then the entire console will be rendered useless.

I know plenty of people who still play on SNES or PlayStation 2 or whatever retro console. Microsoft seems to be ensuring that that can't happen.

You know what? Fuck Xbox One! Seriously, doesn't it creep you guys out that Kinect is always monitoring you, while at the same time you have to be connected to the internet every 24 hours? Even if you believe that bullshit about Microsoft isn't watching you, there is always the chance of people hacking it. Fuck that!
