- Microsoft Corp. clearly dreams of integrating all of its platforms into the world’s most powerful ecosystem ever created and ensure some level of interoperability between all of them. Ideally, people should be able to consume content and applications on all types of hardware. However, when it comes to AAA games for Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles, they are something that PC gamers are not going to get.
Back in the days Microsoft developed and published video games for PCs, but after the Xbox emerged the firm stopped to address core PC gamers with relevant content. Today, Microsoft’s partners either develop Xbox-exclusive titles, or create two separate versions for Xbox and PCs. At its Xbox One formal launch event, Microsoft unveiled fifteen exclusive titles coming to the console in its first year. When enquired whether PC gamers could possibly get access to some of that content, Matt Booty, general manager of Redmond game studios and platforms revealed in an interview with Shacknews that while “Windows 8 gamer is certainly going to participate in some of that content," it is not going to be in the way one might expect or want.
Although the new Xbox One will be very similar to a personal computer and will feature a Windows NT-like OS to run apps, neither PC titles will run on Xbox One, nor the games for the latter, will run on PC. Moreover, Microsoft does not want games like Gears of War, Halo or Quantum Break to actually run on anything other than the Xbox platform.
"We have got everything from very, very casual games, like our very much improved and reimagined Solitaire, all the way to graphically complicated games like The Harvest. We are talking about console games, but there could be some franchises that also end up with a PC game. When I think about more connected experiences across those platforms, it is things that show up within that family of devices where we have got Xbox Live, like Windows Phone and Windows 8 and not what you might consider a more traditional desktop PC game," said Mr. Booty.
While exclusive-Xbox titles are not going to show up on PC, it remains to be seen how many AAA-class exclusive titles for Xbox One or PS4 will be in this generation. PC gaming is gaining popularity these days, whereas the cost of game development is increasing. In many cases exclusive titles will simply be unprofitable to make. http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20130528213157_Microsoft_Will_Not_Bring_AAA_Class_Xbox_One_Games_to_PCs.html

| To be fair they haven't ported Xbox exclusives to PC for a while. I mean Alan Wake was the last one ported and that was because of the poor sales for the 360 version.
All the Gears games after Gears 1, and all the Halo games after Halo 2 have been exclusive to Xbox.
