I wonder why the series even ended? I mean I know all things come to an end, but the series is so freaking popular. The rights-holders never thought to start it up again or reboot it or something? Maybe make a spin-off? I dunno.

Creating anime/manga is not an easy job at all. Akira Toriyama has worked on the series for over 12 years. Imagine yourself drawing something like Dragon Ball, page by page for that long. It's incredibly daunting.

Toei tried to continue the series themselves with Dragon Ball GT. But obviously the show wasn't very successful.
