Why do they make games for guys only?

It seems kind of stupid...there are a lot of games that are off-putting to women. Since I don't want this to be a generic rant, I'm going to bring up the Sims. The Sims has become the best selling franchise of all time. It appeals to both genders, race, pretty much everybody that won't dismiss it as a casual babby game.

As a franchise, it has sold more than 100 million copies. The COD franchise only comes to about half of that(I think). My point is that publishers are stupid enough to only make a game that appeals only to dudes. Why? Women make up half of the world's population. Why are they ignoring half of their potential audience?

WTF are you getting to pickles? Most games appeal to both genders, male and female.

I don't think companies are purposely steering their games towards the male audience. I think they're putting the game out there for both genders to enjoy, but it just so happens that male gamers outnumber female gamers.

I have no problem playing as a female or male character. Considering females are supposedly more mature neither should they.

Wasn't there a survey for mass effect that showed like only 20% or something played as females?

I don't think women are being left out for anything other than the reason than most genres don't appeal to that kind of demographic.

Plus imagine cod with women. How the hell would that work?
Imagine the weapon loadout. What would they use; frying pans? brooms?
And then killstreaks... they call in their husbands to do the stuff they're incapable of doing.

There are more killstreaks than that. There could be the bitchcopter, the monthly package, and the nag machine.

And let's not forget the dishwasher. I'm not quite sure what it does but I heard it can threaten to put every single woman out of business.
