Uncharted delayed to 2017

Sony Pictures Entertainment today unveiled release dates for 16 films for the studio’s slate through 2019.
The studio said the additions compose a diverse, globally oriented mix of films, including new films with franchise potential (The Dark Tower, Uncharted, Patient Zero), established franchises (Bad Boys 3 and 4, Resident Evil, Underworld), adaptations of strong and beloved source material (The Magnificent Seven, Jumanji, Barbie), and original films (Passengers, Money Monster, The Shallows, Baby Driver, The Lamb).
These films join numerous projects already on the studio’s slate, including Ghostbusters (which moves up one week to 7/15/16), the next Spider-Man movie (7/28/17), The Equalizer 2 (9/29/17), Dan Brown’s Inferno (10/14/16), Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (11/11/16), and the animated Spider-Man film masterminded by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (7/20/18).

Seems like Tom Rothman has fixed Amy's shit.

Having Tom Rothman in charge of things at Sony makes me nervous. Then again, it's not like Sony was any better with Amy in charge anyways. =/

Maybe with Tom Rothman around, he can speed things up with the Uncharted movie. After all, I think Seth Gordon left Uncharted because of Tom Rothman, which I can't say I'm too broken up about it. So we'll just have to wait and see how things turn out.

That's true.

But then again, Rothman is an actual Movie buff. He's the only reason Sony is doing Money Monster, the only reason Sony is making Zemeckis' The Walk, and the only reason Ang Lee's next film went into production. He's made sure that smaller films still get made within Sony's divisions.

If anything, I'm excited to see what he'll do now that he's in charge. Can't say Amy did much before him, anyway.

@RamboOnRedBull That's one of the problems with Tom Rothman though. That he's a movie buff. He had a vision for what the X-Men franchise should have been and interfered a lot. I mean hell, he thought having Sentinels in the X-Men films wouldn't be a good idea, and X-Men: Days of Future Past turned out to be the best in the franchise. Not saying Tom Rothman will do a bad job at Sony. I'm just skeptical is all. He's likely to make a few questionable goofs. Then again, every studio does I guess.

I'd take some goofs with franchise properties over neglecting personal films that aren't billion dollar movies any day of the week, though.

Who owns the rights to Hit-Monkey anyway?

When I first saw this thread in the portal part of the website, I got extremely worried because I thought that Uncharted 4 had been delayed to 2017. Good to see that I was wrong, phew.


I honestly have zero hype or expectations going into this movie, as should we all with film adaptations of video-games. There hasn't been a truly great film, yet. There been some decent ones, but no truly great ones.

Warcraft seems like it's going to be the first good video game movie.

Source Code had a very Hitchcockian feeling to it. I enjoyed it a lot, but Moon was still better IMO.

Okay, this might sound crazy, but am I the only one who thinks the Jumanji remake could work as a "found footage" style film?
