Apparently, he just wasn't a fan of the script, and he left the project under amicable terms (which is why the scheduling conflict excuse was used as a cover story). Why didn't he like it? It could be for any number of reasons, but the site goes on to add that the latest draft is rumoured to have beefed up the screen time of Deadshot (Will Smith) and The Joker (Jared Leto) at the expense of characters like Flagg. Given the status of Smith and the popularity of The Joker, that makes sense!

Will this put Jake Gyllenhaal off from enlisting in the Suicide Squad? We'll have to wait and see...

LR is usually hit or miss with DC news, but I hope this isn't the reality of it. If the movie is truly dominated by Deadshot and Joker, which will include Harley, while pushing away the other Squad members I will be disappointed.

Well focusing more on Deadshot and The Joker makes perfect sense. Not just because they're going to be played by Will Smith and Jared Leto, but also because they're classic Batman villains. Deadshot has always been the heart of the Suicide Squad team. Just like how Iron Man is the heart of The Avengers. Also Deadshot and The Joker were kinda the main focus in one of the animated movies...

The movie should be about the team, it's called Suicide Squad, not Deadshot and Joker Ft. Harley and the suicide squad.

@yonny616 I never said the movie will only be about Deadshot and The Joker. Just that they will stand out the most is all. Just like how Captain America, Iron Man, and Ultron will stand out the most in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

@Mecha Rick Flagg is the leader. He should have as much screen time as Deadshot. The Joker must be the villain if he has that much screen time.
