I've always considered making a thread about this. But I always thought everyone would pick Mario, so I didn't bother.

I'll go with Sonic. Just because I grew up reading Sonic comics as a kid. If you ever wanted good Sonic stories, read the comics.

Obviously the better character is Mario. He never had quite the downfall that Sonic had. Aside from some lousy third-party Mario games, pretty much his entire catalogue has been awesome (you could make an argument that Super Mario Bros. 2 wasn't very good but that was a different game that was reskinned as a Mario game for America).

Admitted, Jack. You like Mario games better because you get to collect coins.

The original Sonic games were much funner than the Mario games.

Original Sonic > Mario

Modern Mario > Modern Sonic
